Pay your business rates

There are a number of ways to pay your business rates.

Pay Your Business Rates
You can now pay your Business Rates through My Account which gives you access to a range of Council services - get started by registering for an account here and pay your Business Rates. You will need your 8-digit reference number shown on your bill.

Paying online is quick and easy. Payments are protected using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. We accept most major credit and debit cards.

Other ways to pay

Direct debit is the easiest way to pay your business rates. You can set up a direct debit by phoning 01902 551166, or by using our online form.

By phone

You can make a payment using the council's 24 hour automated payment Freephone line.

We accept most major credit and debit cards. and you will need your 8-digit reference number shown on your bill.

Telephone banking

Alternatively, you can ring your own bank and ask them to make the payment to the following council bank account:

  • sort code: 56-00-69
  • account number: 44470339
  • reference number: the 8-digit number as shown on your business rates bill or payment card

By post

You can send a cheque/postal order made payable to City of Wolverhampton Council by post:

Please write your name, address and account number on the back of the cheque/postal order.

Using the barcode on your bill

A barcode now appears on the back of all business rates bills.

Using the barcode, you can pay your business rates at any PayPoint outlet or Post Office. You can also use the barcode or 8-digit business rates reference number to pay at Wolverhampton Homes or at the kiosks on the ground floor of the Civic Centre. 

Please note it may take a few working days for this payment to reach your account. You need to make sure that any payment is made in good time to allow for this.
